Based on the latest chapters and clues, it seems that the One Piece might be the key to changing the world. But if it falls into the wrong hands, the consequences could be disastrous. Joyboy already knew the importance of this secret and he likely set up measures to ensure that only the right person could carry out his plan and that person would be someone capable of awakening the Nika Fruit.

There are several clues that suggest the One Piece might be linked to the Nika Fruit.

No one has been able to awaken the Nika Fruit since Joyboy. Shanks pursued the Gomu Gomu Fruit and spent time in the East Blue, possibly searching for someone who could awaken it. He waited for Luffy before starting his search for the One Piece, possibly aware that it requires someone who has awakened the fruit. Interestingly, the Celestial Dragons don’t seem interested in the One Piece, perhaps because Imu knows it’s unreachable.

The Roger Pirates, might have been unable to claim the treasure because Joyboy hid it behind the requirement of awakening the Nika Fruit. This would ensure that only someone with a good heart, aligned with the fruit’s will, could be trusted with the One Piece.
