I believe Jinbei learned about Joy Boy from Fisher Tiger after escaping slavery. In Impel Down, a torturer referred to Joy Boy as the “sun god,” suggesting a connection between him and liberation. Slaves likely passed down stories of Joy Boy through generations, fostering hope among the oppressed during the past 800 years.

These tales of Joy Boy, especially his persona during moments of liberation, would inspire those suffering under the World Government, reinforcing the belief that he would one day return to free them.

The choice of the sun as the symbol for the Sun Pirates is significant. Instead of a traditional Fish-Man symbol, the sun represents Nika and embodies themes of liberation and freedom. This connection illustrates how deeply the legacy of Joy Boy influences the Sun Pirates and their mission to challenge tyranny.
