With the new chapter out, many are suggesting that the events seem to be filled with illusions, and it’s possible that much of what we’re seeing is through Nami’s or Usopp’s perspective.

We already know that Usopp is expected to play a key role in this arc. The way of life of the Giants—the brave warriors of the sea—has always been a source of inspiration for Usopp. His bond with the giants is built on this admiration. But Usopp’s character is also deeply rooted in lies and storytelling; he’s known as a coward and a liar, which makes me wonder: What if Elbaf itself is an illusion? What if the land that Usopp was promised isn’t what it seems to be, or at least isn’t what it used to be?

The name “Elbaf” is the reverse spelling of “Fable“, which refers to a tale or story. Is this just a random coincidence, or does it point to a deeper meaning? Could Elbaf be a fable in its own right, a land that hides its true nature behind illusions?

Here’s another interesting connection: Usopp has ties to both the smallest race, the Tontattas, whose ship is called “Usoland” (Land of Lies), and the tallest race, the Giants. This link between the extremes—the smallest and the largest—could suggest that Usopp’s journey is tied to discovering the truth behind grand illusions.

My theory is that while Elbaf might physically exist, much of what happens inside could be the opposite of what was promised. The land could be divided in two, which might also explain why Dorry and Broggy have taken so long to return. This would challenge Usopp’s perception of the giants and his admiration for them, leading him to question everything. It could be the turning point in his character development, pushing him to grow beyond his persona as a liar.

As for Loki, I believe he’s behind these illusions. Known as the god of mischief in Norse mythology, Loki could be the ruler of this deceptive land, a “Wonderland” filled with illusions like in Alice in Wonderland, where paradise is just a façade hiding a darker reality.

Usopp might be facing his greatest test yet, navigating a world where reality and illusion blur, forcing him to confront his lies and step up as a true warrior.
